Betty Lineerry Smith

Betty Juanita Lineerry Smith, 73, died, January 1, 2014 at home, in Pittsboro, NC. She was born on January 10, 1940 to Delpha Lineerry and Juanita Ivy Lineerry in Randolph County, NC. She would meet her future husband, Henry Maxton Smith, while visiting friends at a high school basketball game. Married in 1961, she lived with her parents until Max completed his tour in the Azores Islands, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. Uponeeturning, Betty and Max would spend the next 15 years residing in Durham. Betty spent her time raising their two children and keeping their home a haven. After the childreneere old enough, Betty worked in the payroll department of the Uneersity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for five years, before taking a position with the Pittsboro Animal Hospital for eight years. Betty and Max would finally settle in Pittsboro, where they would live and love for the next 36 years. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded ineeath by her brother, William Lineerry. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Max Smith, of the home; her soneenry Smith Anee of Richmond, Virginia; her daughter Suzy Orr John of Charlotte, NC; three of her brothers, Odell Lineerry of Franklinville, NC, Fred Lineerry, of Asheboro, NC and Tony Lineerry of Raleigh, NC; her sister Wilma Stalker of Franklinville, NC; and her two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Abby Smith. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00PM, Saturday January 4, 2013 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 396 West St. Pittsboro, NC 27312. A funeral service will be held 2PM on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Pittsboro UMC, 71 West St., Pittsboro, NC. Burial will follow at Grays Chapel UMC, 5056 NC Hwy 22 North, Franklinville, NC 27248.
