Betty Jeaneeer

AUGUSTA, GA: Betty Jean Glenneeer died Sunday at the Medical College of Georgia. She was born April 28, 1937 in Gastonia to Mary Jean Smith Glenn and Henry Franklin Glenn. Betty Jean grew up in Gastonia, then graduated from Gulf Park College in Gulf Port, Mississippi, and received a degree in sociology from the Uneersity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she met the love of her life, the late Hubert Otto Teer, Jr. She was a long time resident of Durham and moved to Augusta, GA in 2000 to be near her grandchildren. Betty Jean was a member of and a contributor to many civic and community organizations, including the Junior League of Durham and Orange Counees, the Debutante Ball Society of Durham, Trianee Hospice, Animal Protection Society of Durham, Meals on Wheels and Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was a member of Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church where she served as wedding coordinator for many years. In Augusta, she attended bible study at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening, attending her grandchildren's sportineevents, and being with her cat, Puss. Surviving are her children, Robert Glenneeer of Bowling Green, OH, David Alleneeer of Hope Mills, NC and Caroline Teer Yort and her husband Bennett Atherton Yort of Augusta, GA; grandchildren Kathryneeer Yort, Mary Glenn Caroline Yort, and Bennett Atherton Yort, Jr. of Augusta; a sister, Martha Glenn Bailey and her husband Larry Bailey of Cary; nephews, Russell Newton Barringer, III, Edward Teer Barringer, Stephen Wright Barringer, and Stephen Glenn Bailey; and a niece, Kimberly Bailey Hueter; and many grand nieces and grand nephews. A graveside funeral will be held 11:00 Thursday in Maplewood Cemetery with the Rev. Donovan Drake officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Newton Barringer, Jr, 2825 Chelsea Circle.
