Mrs. Bertha Sparrow, age 107, passed on to her heavenly home oneeptember 7, 2016. Bertha, the youngest of six children of John Elexander Davis and Sarah Lucretia Parris, was born in a log cabin that her dad built. The log cabin was chosen for its craftsmanship by the Park Service. It was moved and placed on display in 1953 as part of ???The Pioneer Homestead??? located at the Oconaluftee Visitor???s Center in the Smoky Mountain National Park off Highway 441 just outside of Cherokee. Mrs. Sparrow is survived by her 5 children; Mable Parton Hutchins, Roy Parton and wife Teresa, Bud Parton and wife Gail, Linda Partoneeasley and husband Don, and Joyce Parton; 13 grandchildren; William Hutchins, Leigh Ann Hutchins Toulson, Susan Hutchins, David Parton, Scott Parton, Kristie Parton Gordon, Paula Parton Duke, Troy Parton, Jason Parton, Philip Parton, Doneeasley Jr., Tracy George, and Chad George; 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great- grandchildren. Mrs. Sparrow was predeceased by her husbands, Earl Parton and Julian Sparrow, a grand-daughter, Melinda Teasley Miller, and son-in-law Odis Hutchins. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The Family is under the care of Hall-Wynne Funeral Services.
