Bertha Carroll Gornto

Bertha Carroll Gornto, age 87, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006. Mrs. Gornto was born in Durham to the late Elizabeth Crabtree Carroll and John Gaston Carroll. Mrs. Gornto was a faithful member of the Friendship Sunday School Class of Yates Baptist Church. She retired from the American Tobacco Company where she met her husband, Paul Gornto, who preceded her ineeath in 1986. Surviving are her daughter, Carol Gornto; one sister, Bernee Ferrell; two brothers, Morris Carroll and wife, Beth, Frank Carroll and wife, Anne; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded ineeath by two brothers, Billy Hunter Carroll and John Thomas Carroll. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, December 22, 2006 from Yates Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Don Gordon and the Rev. John Fredericks presiding. Burial will follow in Woodlawneemorial Mausoleum. Friends may visit Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Eric Massey, Kyle Massey, Andy Gornto, Bob Gornto, Mike Crutchfield, and Scott Gesell.
