** A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernard Loux, who died March 8, 2014 will be offered 1:00 PM Saturday, April 18, from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Hall-Wynne Funeral Services. ** Mr. Bernard Patrick Loux, 73, of Durham, NC, passed away at his home on March 4, 2015. Mr. Loux was born on neember 10, 1941 in Pittston, PA, the son of the late Bernard and Kathleen Loux. He graduated from St. John???s High School in Pittston in 1959 and from the Uneersity of Scranton in 1963 with a B.S. in Chemistry. He taught Chemistry and AP Chemistry at The Lawrenceville School for 42 years until his retirement in 2009. Mr. Loux was an innovative aneeffective teacher, much loved by his students. He was the recipient of many teaching awards, notably: Outstanding Teacher Award, The Uneersity of Chicago (1998); Teacher Tribute, Stanford Uneersity (2003); The J.E. Wallace Sterling Award for Scholastic Achievement; The Leland Stanford Junior Uneersity (2006); and the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, Teacher Recognition Award, U.S. Department of Education (1998). Recently, Mr. Loux tutored students and taught in the Chemistry Department at Duke Uneersity. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Durham where he sang in the choir. He is survived by his cousin, Patrick Toole Sr. and family, of Hiltoneead, SC; loving friends, Dr. Geobel A. Marin and family, of Titusville, NJ, and Nick Leonard, of Aroda, VA; and longtime friends, Dr. Anthony DeAngelo of Durham, NC, and Fr. Frank Skechus, S.J., of Scranton, PA. A celebration of Bernard???s life will be held on Saturday April 18th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Durham, NC. Interment will be private. For those wishing to honor Mr. Loux???s memory, gifts may be made to The Lawrenceville School, PO Box, 6125 Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
