Barbara May Lane

Barbara May Lane, age 73, of Oxford, North Carolina, died on January 1, 2024. Born in Oxford, NC, Barbara was the daughter of the late Albert Winston May and Roslyn Ruth VanDyke May.

Barbara was a woman of strong faith who attended Bethel United Methodist Church all of her life. She had a big heart and loved her family unconditionally.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 53 years, Garland “Buck” Lane and her children, Jason Lane (Tina) and Angela Oakley (Andy); her beautiful grandchildren, Brittney Perkins (Tom), Austin Oakley, and Jacob Lane; and her precious great grandchild, Emery Lane.

 She will be deeply missed by her sister, Debbie Englebright (Clarence) and her large loving extended family and friends too numerous to name.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents; her granddaughter, Makayla Lane; her great granddaughter, Kelly Williams and her sister, Patricia “Pat” Cole.

A visitation will be held to remember Barbara on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan, 503 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565. A service will be held at 2:00 pm and officiated by Pastor Gray Clayton in the Chapel with burial to follow at Meadowview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her honor be made to Families Living Violence Free.
