Arthur Coco Sanford Adams

Arthur "Coco" Sanford Adams of Durham died Sunday evening, neember 29, 2009, at New Haneer Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. He was 79 years old. Coco was born on April 21, 1930 ineetroit, MI to the late Jasper M. and Hazel Cheek Adams. After proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army, Coco became an active member of Lowe's Grove Baptist Church for many years. Coco was a loving, caring and giving husband, father, pa and friend. He always went out of his way to do kind deeds for others. Coco loved to cook and his homemade cookies brought smiles to many faces. Coco was an avid sports fan aneespecially a great baseball player. He was and always will be a Duke Blue Devil. Coco loved the Lord, his friends and family dearly. Coco is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara "Bobbi" Adams of Durham; his two devoted sons: Kris Wynne Adams and wife, Allyson, of Raleigh, NC; Kirk Sanford Adams and wife, Kimberly, of Durham; his dear adopted son, Danny Gooch of Emerald Isle, NC; his five sisters: Dorothy Adams, Joan Dixon, Wanda Cook, Betty Ertell and Nancy Wood, all of Durham; his two brothers: Marvin Adams and Felton "Pock" Adams, also of Durham; and six grandchildren: Kristen Adams, Jordan Adams, Keenan Adams, Kourtney Adams, Daniel Burnell and Danielle Adams. Coco was preceded ineeath by three brothers: Julian M. Adams, Ronald B. Adams and Philip Adams. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 3, 2009, from Lowe's Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Forest M. Gale, Jr. presiding. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 1113 W. Main St. in Durham; and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made ineemory of Arthur "Coco" Adams to the Juvenee Diabetes Research Foundationeeastern NC Chapter, 7721 Six Forks Rd., Suite 136, Raleigh, NC 27615. Coco's granddaughter, Danielle Adams, will be the recipient of the donations.
