Anee Ruth Strickland Arrington, 81, died Monday, December 9, 2013. Anee Ruth was born in Alamance County on August 10, 1932 to Clarence Pruett Strickland Sr. and Mamie Hybernia Dixon Strickland. She was a graduate of Durham High School. Following graduation she worked at Harris Upham & Company, ran a teletype machine and was a teacher's assistant in the Durham Public Schools. Anee Ruth was a member of Temple Baptist Church where she was a member of the adult choir for over 50 years and the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. She was preceded ineeath by three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Peace, Mrs. Meredith Daughtry, and Mary Heleneelly, two brothers, Mr. Clarence P. Strickland and Mr. Henry C. Strickland. Surviving are: her husband, of 57 years, William K. "Bill" Arrington of Durham; three sons and daughters-in-law, David K. Arrington and wife, Elizabeth of Timberlake, Ted W. Arrington and wife, Leslie of Chapel Hill and Glenn S. Arrington and wife, Tammie of Graham; a grandson, Will C. Arrington; a sister, Mrs. Ida Virginia Marshall of Richmond, VA. The family will be present 4:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main St., Durham. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Temple Baptist Church, 4504 Sterling Dr., Durham. Senior Pastor Mark Mofield will officiate. Burial in Maplewood Cemetery, Durham.
