BAHAMA - Andrew Stamey Peeler, 34, passed away Sunday, February, 19, 2023 in his home. Andrew was born on August 19, 1988 to parents W. Stamey Peeler and Cynthia Wiesel Peeler.
Andrew was a character known by one name- Peeler. While he considered himself one of the biggest things in any given room, his larger-than-life personality coupled with his louder-than-life voice made it impossible to forget him once you met him. He graduated from Sanderson High School and went on to study at North Carolina State University. While Andrew loved to travel, he never wanted to stay far from home and family. He had a passion for people, and he genuinely loved connecting with other humans; he could mingle with any crowd. He had an altruistic heart, and always wanted to help where he could. He had strong opinions, which he held onto with conviction, and was always ready to tell anyone that would listen exactly how he felt about any given subject. His bluntness and brutal honesty were unparalleled, and at times unwanted, but you have to admire a person that won’t beat around the bush and that calls it as he sees it!
He loved to play disc golf and loved a good game of cards, but not nearly as much as he loved his Wolfpack Football. He had a natural talent for golf, and has fancied himself a NASCAR driver since the mid-90’s. He spent most of his free time at the Green Room shooting pool and was part of a pool league for the last several years. He loved music of all genres and had an uncanny ability to remember and recite lyrics- but could not carry a tune. What he lacked in ability he more than made up for in enthusiasm.
This world has lost one of the best characters it’s ever known- a son, a brother, an uncle, and a friend. Andrew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Margaret Peeler of Bahama. He is survived by his parents, W. Stamey Peeler and Cynthia Wiesel Peeler; his sister, Anna M Ellis (Ethan) and his niece, Shelby Mae Ellis, and nephew, Forrest “Buddy” Ellis; his maternal grandparents, Norman and Emma Wiesel of Brookdale; countless aunts, uncles, and cousins; and the love of his life, his dog, Bella.
A celebration of life to follow in the coming weeks.
