b. June 10, 1931

Stovall Amos Buford Rutledge, age 87, died peacefully surrounded by family oneecember 14, 2018. He was the son of the late Richard Anderson Rutledge and Ola Jane Burns Rutledge of Virginia.?? He was born ineecklenburg County on June 10, 1931 and resided in Granville County for many prosperous years with his late wife, Edith Rebecca Currin Rutledge. Amos was an active member of his church and community.?? He served his country as a Marine and returned home to work for Burlington Industries and retired after 28 years.???? He worked for Lowes Foods for 14 years after his retirement.???? Amos was a member of Stovall Baptist Church and was an active Deacon, Choir member and member of the Stovall Baptist Brotherhood. He was also a member of the Stovall Ruritan Club.???? He was a very loving and devoted father (Daddy) and grandfather to all his family and will be greatly missed. Amos is survived by his children; Sheila Boyd of Stovall, Wanda Rutledge (Robert) Oliver of Stovall, Steve Rutledge of Durham, Debbie Rutledge of Stovall, and Ray (Lisa) Rutledge of Raleigh. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 11 great great-grandchildren and neerous other loving family and friends. Amos is predeceased by his wife, his parents, his daughter, Marilyn Sue Rutledge and his grandson, David Carsoneeary. A visitation will be held for family and friends from 6:00 ??? 7:30 pm at Gentry neell & Vaughan on Monday, December 17, 2018 and also at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Stovall Baptist Church. Services will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at 2:00 pm at Stovall Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Robert Oliver and Rev. Eddie Mauldin. Burial to follow at Stovall Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson???s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL, 33131 or you may use the website https://parkinson.org/ways-to-give The Rutledge family is being proudly served by Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home, Oxford, NC.
