Rat Dean Alfred "Rat B. Dean, Jr., 87, of Oxford, NC died on Tuesday October 23, 2017 peacefully in his sleep while staying at the Granville House. Born in Granville County he was the son of the late Alfred B. Dean, Sr. and Hallie Daniel Dean. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Morris Dean in May of 2017. Mr. Dean is survived by one brother, John Dean and wife Pearl of Va Beach, VA and three Step-Children; Betty Lou (Paul) Boyd of Rougemont, Martha Barbour of Oxford, and Roger (Gina) Morris of Oxford. Six Step-Grandchildren; Ryan Barbour (Jessica), Jessica Morris (Eddie), Jonathan Morris (Samantha), Joshua Boyd (Jennifer), Lydia Stevens (Matt) and Alan Boyd (Kelli). Ten Step-Great Grandchildren; Olivia, Remington, Ella Jo, Bentley, Lukas, Jack Dean, Jolene, Zoe, Violet, Autumn and Cole as well as many nieces and nephews. Rat Dean was loved by not only family but his friends and church family as well. He was a member of the Hester Baptist Quartet, Church Choir, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Church Trustee. He served in US Army and afterwards was a self-employed Heavy Equipment Operator in the Granville County area for many years. The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 25, 2107 at 10:00 a.m. and following a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the Hester Baptist Church, 6581 Hwy. 96 North. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Hester Baptist Church building fund. P.O. Box 964, Oxford, NC 27565.
