OXFORD: Addie Dease Hobgood, age 76, died at her home surrounded by her family, on Monday, October 14, 2013 after an extended illness. She was a longtime resident of Oxford, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and a great grandmother. A native of Halifax, VA, she was the daughter of the late Lynwood and Maggie Dease. Addie was a member of West Oxford Baptist Church, and was retired from Murdoch Center. Her hobbies included canning, sewing, yard sales, and the Oxford Farmer's Market. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM oneednesday, October, 16, 2013 at Gentry-neell & Vaughan Chapel by Reverend Wesley Garner. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. She leaves behind a loving husband of 59 years, Jim Hobgood; three loving children, Bonee Smith of Durham, Jimmy Hobgood and wife, Cheryl of Oxford and Tammy Williamson and husband, Danny of Bullock; grandchildren, Caroline Cash, husband Brian; Brian Smith, Emily and Sarah Hobgood and Kaleb Williamson; and great grandchild, Leah Elizabeth Cash; four brothers, Pete, Johnny, Paul and Wayne and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded ineeath by her sisters, Anee Long, Jane Saunders, Frances Wagstaff, and Betty Clay. Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home is assisting the Hobgood family.
