Kimber Allred Pilkington

Kimber Allred Pilkington, 46, of Pittsboro, died Thursday, May 24, 2007 at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was borneebruary 28, 1961 in Chatham County, the daughter of Adrian and Tot Allred. Kimber was a 1979 graduate of Northwood High School in Pittsboro and she earned a Batchelor of Arts in Psychology from UNC Wilmington. She was the owner of Pittsboro Afterschool Academy, formerly Tot's Travelers, and a dedicated childcare provider for over 25 years. Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Pilkington; two sons, Garrett and Aneew Pilkington, of the home; three brothers, Kyle Allred of Little River, SC, Kent Allred and Kirk Allred, both of Pittsboro. She was predeceased by her parents. Friends may visit with the family from 6 - 8 pm, Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Griffin Funeral Service and Cremation in Pittsboro. The funeral for Mrs. Pilkington will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Pittsboro Baptist Church, with interment to follow in May's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery ineear Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kimber A. Pilkingtoneenefit Fund, in Care of Suntrust Bank, PO Box 399, Pittsboro, NC 27312, or to UNC Hospice, PO Box 1077, Pittsboro, NC 27312.
