Kelly Nicole DeHart, age 30, died on March 24, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of Darryl Lynn DeHart and Robyn DeHart and Kimberly Ann Moore DeHart-Carpenter and Willis Gray Carpenter, III. Kelly was born in Durham County on October 3, 1990.

Kelly was a vibrant and loving young lady, whose smile lit up a room. Diagnosed at age ten with a disease that she never allowed to stand in her way, she attacked the obstacles that life threw at her and turned them into miracles. Many never knew her battles and her many surgeries, until she lost her hearing at age 21. This did not stop her… she had obtained her nursing certification from Vance Granville and went on to obtain her Human Services Bachelor’s degree in Mental Health and Substance Abuse, graduating with top honors in December of 2018 from UNC-Greensboro. She was an avid leader in support and fundraisers for Neurofibromatosis, Wounded Warriors, Wreaths Across America and her own group, “Hope, Aspire and Dream”, which is designed to raise awareness and funds for children with disabilities. Kelly never allowed her disease to conquer her and she gained a resiliency in her self that opened up so many doors.

Kelly is survived by her mother and stepfather, Kim and Will Carpenter, III; her father and stepmother, Darryl and Robyn DeHart; her brother, Nicholas Wade DeHart (Kristel); her sister, Amber Grace Carpenter; her niece, Abigail Lea DeHart and nephew, Riley Gray DeHart. She is also survived by the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Price; her grandparents, Doug and Brenda Moore and Ronnie and Brenda Haigler. She will greatly be missed by many family and friends too numerous to name.

Kelly was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Riley, Jr. and Joyce DeHart.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on March 31, 2021, at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home, Oxford, NC. The family will be present at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please practice social distancing and appropriate mask wearing to protect others.
