George Layton Gowan, Jr.

George Layton Gowan Jr, 62, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. George was born in Spartanburg, SC to the late George Layton and Freda Skinner Gowan, Sr. on June 12, 1949. George worked for Vaughn Electric as an Electrician. George was an avid nascar fan as well as a Duke fan. He enjoyed going to the race at tracks like Bristol, Martinsville and Charlotte. "He was a loving person that would do anything to put a smile on the faces of his family and friends." George is survived by his brother Terry Gowan and wife Mary of Franklinton, NC; one soneeremy Gowan, three nieces Jamie Goodnee, Danielle Padgett and Kristen Gowan, one nephew TJ Gowan. George was preceded ineeath by his nephew Christopher Gowan. A Funeral Service will be offered 11:00 AM Saturday, May 26, 2012 from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701.
