Emily Gray Sexton Harrell

Emily Gray Sexton Harrell, age 90, of Durham passed away on Sunday, June 10, after an illness of 2 months which she endured with grace, courage, her strong faith, and the love and support of her family, friends, and church family. Her family is grateful for the care and support she received from the dedicated caregivers of Duke Hospice. She was born in Plymouth, NC oneecember 7th, 1927, the daughter of George and Mildred Sexton. She was preceded ineeath by her parents, by her husband of 39 years, Earl Bishop Harrell, who died in 1994, and by her daughter Debbie Harrell Saville, who died in 2013. She is survived by one son, William Harmon Harrell of Durham, two grandsons, Ryan Aneew Saville of Germantown, MD, Matthew Todd Saville and his wife Ping Liu of Seattle, Washington, one granddaughter, Christina Grace Saville of Brookeville, MD, and her former son-in-law Gleneeric Saville and his wife Tracey of Brookeville, MD. Her survivors also include her brother William Robert Sexton and his wife Joyce of Plymouth, NC, several nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law Rebecca Harrell of Durham. An open visitation will be held at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 1113 W Main Street, Durham, NC 27701 on Tuesday the 12th between 5 and 7 pm. Additionally a graveside service will be held at 1030am oneednesday June 13th at Maplewood Cemetery, 1621 Duke Uneersity Road, Durham, NC 27701, Section 10, Annex B followed by a memorial service and reception at 12pm at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 2016 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27517. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church
