Jonah Alexander Hamil Luker

Jonah Alexander Hamil Luker, age 21, died in Raleigh on March 20, 2024. He was born on July 8, 2002 to parents Jenifer Hamil and Kenneth Luker and his birth-mother, Shannon Wesdorp.

Jonah grew up in Durham, North Carolina and graduated from Jordan High School. With a curious mind and reliably hardworking personality, he enjoyed building a career in welding and construction. Those who knew him well remember Jonah as immensely courageous, loyal, fun-loving, and adventurous. Jonah enjoyed travelling with his family, time at the beach, the thrill of going fast, and living life to the fullest.

Jonah is survived by his maternal grandparents, Ed and Pam Hamil, paternal grandfather, Allen Luker, parents Jenifer and Kenneth, his siblings Evan and Elly, stepmother Karin, step-siblings Sophie and Aidan, birth-mother Shannon, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and a large community of loving friends.

Friends are invited to a celebration of Jonah’s life on April 6 at 4 p.m. in the back garden of Namu. This is an informal gathering where all attendees can share memories, food, tears, and laughter.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Jonah’s honor to the Durham Rescue Mission.
